What is Vibration Training?
Vibration Training is an accelerated form of fitness training that is supported by decades of research. It is a revolutionary, low stress and rehabilitation solution that helps to build muscle tone quickly.
The training puts different parts of your body in contact with a platform that vibrates at a very low frequency, in various exercise positions ranging from squats, lunges, push-up and abdominal crunches, to tricep dips and bicep curls. A pose is held for up to 60 seconds, activating multiple muscle groups simultaneously to stretch, tone and strengthen.

How does Vibration Training Work?
The Fitvibe Vibration Plate operates under the principle of Controlled Whole Body Vibration or cWBV. In cWBV, 3-dimensional mechanical vibrations, with the main vector in vertical direction, are transmitted to the body through a vibration plate. With the Fitvibe, the frequency of that vibration can be adjusted from 20 to as much as 60 Hz (20 – 60 movements per second). The mechanical stimulus produces a stretch reflex in the muscles. This means that the muscles react to the vibration by contracting and relaxing automatically. Although this may vary from person to person, frequencies of about 30 Hz and higher cause very intense and highly effective muscle contractions. Frequencies in the lower range are used mainly for relaxing by stimulating the blood circulation.
How long has Vibration Training been around?
Scientists of the former Soviet Union began developing the vibration strength field in the 1970s to train Olympic athletes. Later, they applied it to cosmonauts in and returning from outer space. It has been commercialized since the turn of this century.
How does Vibration Training get my muscles to contract automatically?
Every muscle has specialized fibers that register even the minutest changes in length of the muscle. Vertical vibrations cause the muscles to change length, so these specialized muscles fibers cause a jerk reflex, thereby contracting and relaxing at a fast pace.
I am already in good shape. Can I start at a higher level?
We recommend that even a trained person takes it slow during the first session. Get to know the machine and the right positions, and allow your body to get used to the sensation. It’s more intensive that you think! But if you’re in already good shape, you’ll quickly progress to the more advanced exercises
Can I replace my entire fitness program with a Vibration program?
We wouldn’t recommend that. The Fitvibe Vibration Plate is an amazing and multifunctional training device, but stamina is only gained in combination with cardio training. That’s why at Ocean every Fitvibe session entitles you to use the cardio gym, and we encourage you to spend 15 to 20 minutes on cardio exercises (e.g. bicycles or cross trainers) before or after your Fitvibe session
Why are many domestic Vibration Plates inadequate?
Differences between professional quality vibration devices and cheap devices are in the nature of the vibrations; the sound a devices makes, its stability, durability and ease-of-use. Vibrations delivered from the motor(s) of cheap devices do not reach the power level needed for physiological effects; at best they’ll result in a massage effect!
Will Vibration Training increase my blood circulation locally or over my whole body?
Your blood circulation will improve locally and depends largely on the position you assume, i.e. the exercise that you perform.
How long will the effects last?
Like in all sports, a person with a better basic fitness level will enjoy the effects of training for a longer time. As a guideline, Vibration Training once a week is fun, twice is maintenance, three times a week is building up!
